HOLLY COURTRIGHT
FOR ESQUIMALT COUNCIL

HOLLY COURTRIGHT MA, CEC

With professional and volunteer experience across various industries and sectors, I will bring a unique and thoughtful approach to the role of Municipal Councillor. I am a Certified Executive Coach with a specialized education in Human Rights and a solid understanding of the importance of inclusivity and a supportive corporate culture. I also advocate for transparent, holistic, community consultative processes. I am committed to the healthy growth of Esquimalt and have a strong skill set and an in-depth understanding of various facets of the strengths of this community, as well as knowledge of the challenges that the current unprecedented growth has brought and will continue to bring.

I have been a part of the Esquimalt Community for about 15 years in various professional and volunteer roles, and I believe that the next 5 years are crucial in defining the change that is imminent for the Township. With 10 years of experience as a Township employee and 2 years of that as the Union President, I understand how the decisions at the Council level impact staff, service delivery, and project funding. There is no scenario where Esquimalt does not undergo significant changes. We must choose our path based on research, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and the maintenance of a vibrant and diverse community.

My professional background has given me the ability to be a thoughtful, outside-the-box problem solver. I embrace change, and I think this is the outlook required to mediate and manage the differing perspectives that exist. I believe that Esquimalt needs a voice at the table with a well-rounded and realistic understanding of the community so that all the voices are represented and considered. As the current President of the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce and the Esquimalt representative on the Victoria Esquimalt Police Board, I have a great deal of insight into the idiosyncrasies that make Esquimalt a great place to live, work, and play while at the same time sometimes making it a challenging environment to maneuver in. This understanding will be crucial over the next few years as the Township has critical decisions to make.
